Palmoplantar keratodermas are a heterogenous group of disorders characterized by abnormal thickening of the palms and soles, with autosomal recessive and dominant, X-linked, and acquired forms all having been described.[1]:505

Clinically, three distinct patterns of palmoplantar keratoderma may be identified[1]:505 :
